On A Swing (Viola da Gamba, Oud + Synthesizer)
This piece is built around one of the very first musical ideas that I ever developed on the viola da gamba. It first appears over a drone on C, and then gets fleshed out a little when the drone
shifts to F. I especially like, how the colour of the finger-plucked Oud mixes with the Viola da gamba.
Most of the Viola da Gamba parts are played sarangi-style again. I use an underhand grip for bowing, that I first learned in Nepal. The bow tension is extremely loose, and can thus be varied by
the right hand fingers.
The harmonics add a Tintinnabuli-voice, with a delay phasing in 1/2 notes and 1/2 note triplets.
